About Me
My name is Lily Kate Hearns and I am a Transition Year student here in St.Gerards. Welcome to my blog. Here, I will be documenting all of the activities, opportunities and amazing adventures I have through out the year. Enjoy! ☺️
TY Expectations
Transition year is said to be the best year in secondary school for most people. Every student I talk to that has already completed Transition Year always says how amazing it is and tells me of the great experiences and memories made through out the year. I'm also told that TY is very much so a year where what you put in you get out.
For this reason I have decided to get fully immersed in all aspects of Transition Year. In doing so, I have organised various different extra curricular activities to help me develop my personal skills. I hope to take more hobbies through out the year and develop new interests.
In TY we are required to organise two weeks of work experience and one week of community service. As I'm not quite sure what it is I wish to study in University when I leave school, I'm hoping my work experience will help me decide. I've always been interested in studying law but I'm not quite sure if it's for me so I've organised a week of work experience with a lawyer. I'm hoping this will give me a better insight as to what is involved with the job.
For TY I have also decided to get more involved in school life. As a result I am trying to get myself involved in as many groups and commities as possible. I have started off with joining YSI (which I am also counting as my community service for Gaisce) and the IT and newsletter committee. I'm hoping that by joining these communities and groups I will not only become more involved in school life but will also be given the opportunity to socialise and work with different people in the year.
All in all, I hope that fourth year brings the opportunity to develop myself as a person and also give me the chance to meet new people and make new friends. My main goal for the year however is to make loads of memories in which I can look back on and see that I got the most I possibly could out of TY.
